WHY DOES THE LIBERAL MEDIA FAIL – TIME AND TIME AGAIN? SUPPLY AND DEMAND, AMERICA
Remember Air America Radio? The left-wing network that was gonna kick the combined asses of Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck? Yep, they were loaded for bear: Al Franken, Janeane Garofalo, Rachel Maddow and Thom Hartman, just to name a scary few. Air America went live in 2004 – suffered through terrible ratings, financial scandals, two bankruptcies and a garage sale – and was mercifully put out of its misery in 2010.
Air America was not the first – nor will it be the last – left-wing media outlet purposely founded with the mission of combating “right-wing talk radio” and Fox News. It was also not the last that will die trying. Does anyone honestly believe MSNBC would still be on the air were it not for the deep pockets of Disney and Microsoft? Hell – where would PBS and NPR be without handouts from taxpayers?
This brings us to the current status of CNN – “The Most Trusted Name in News.” Apparently not. Based on numbers released yesterday, CNN just delivered its lowest-rated month in over a decade. The once-dominant cable news network posted 10-year-lows among both total viewers (357,000) and adults, 25-54 (108,000). In comparison to April, 2011, CNN was down 21% in total viewers and 29% in the 25-54 demographic. Ouch.
In comparison, Fox News was up 2% in total viewers (1.1 million) and up 1% in the 25-54 bracket. (273,000)
In the all-important evening market, where Fox has destroyed CNN and MSNBC for more than a decade, the numbers look even worse for CNN. John King USA was down 41% in the 25-54 bracket, Erin Burnett Outfront was down 34%, Piers Morgan was down 14% and Anderson Cooper 360 was down 8% at 8 p.m. and 28% at 10 p.m. Again, ouch.
So how, one might ask, has CNN sunk to this level? The same way the welcoming committee in the toilet – MSNBC – got there: Blatant liberal bias. I’m open to another explanation from the loons, by the way. Irrespective of the tremendous success of Fox News – whose viewers the left-wing suggests are mindless robots, why have CNN’s and MSNBC’s viewers steadily walked away over the last 10 years? Defection to Fox? Simply wised up and grew tired of the propaganda? All of the above?
Here are the average viewers for the top programs on each of the three networks during the month of April:
Fox News: “The O’Reilly Factor” - 2.87 million
MSNBC: “The Rachel Maddow Show” – 985,000
CNN: “Piers Morgan Tonight” – 567,000
A bit of quick math tells us that O’Reilly doubled Maddow and Morgan – combined. Of course, the loons will try to convince us that a majority of Americans are just too damn stupid to appreciate the “balance” of CNN and MSNBC, choosing instead to buy into the dumb-downed, “right-wing rhetoric” of Fox. The question then becomes: If the majority of Americans are dopey mindless Fox followers, how did we manage to elect your President? Perhaps – after nearly four years of disappointment and delusion – a sufficient number of moderate Americans have wised up and had enough. Hopefully, that will also be the case come November.
And – it’s safe to assume – a boatload of the “less-than-informed” have never watched CNN, MSNBC or Fox News in the first place.

Makes you wonder what an intelligent conservative would do in place of honored bloviator O’Reilly, doesn’t it? The rest, not worth the effort at contempt. Full disclosure, I walked (well, maybe ran) away from CNN ten years ago.
Truth be told, the Rat used to watch it as well. Don’t tell anyone.
Wouldn’t dream of it.
I suspect we all did, it was the first after all.
