I always have to chuckle when liberal politicians start talking religion – which is always for political reasons of course. I can recall the O-man philosophizing that Jesus would have supported increasing taxes on the rich – as he misquoted a Bible verse to make his point. Then we had the San Francisco Hag rambling on about how her favorite word was The Word. Not content with merely telling us that The Word was the word – she bumbled on in hysterical fashion – just to make sure we hadn’t forgotten what a moron she is.
Guess what? She’s baaack.
Yes, Catholics of America, the ultimate authority on the Church says that the 43 Catholic institutions – including the Archdiocese of Washington, D.C., the Archdiocese of St. Louis and the Archdiocese of New York – that are suing the Regime over its mandate that all healthcare plans must cover sterilizations, contraceptives and abortifacients do not speak for the Catholic Church. No word on whether Pope Benedict is checking with the Hag for further understanding of the Church’s official position on the manner.
CNSNews.com asked the Hag – who is Catholic – whether she supported her church in the lawsuits, which argue that the Regime’s mandate violates freedom of religion guaranteed under the First Amendment:
“What about the 43 Catholic institutions [that] have now sued the administration over the regulation that requires them to provide contraceptives, sterilizations, and abortifacients in their health care plans? They say that violates their religious freedom. Do you support the Catholic Church in their lawsuits against the administration?”
“Well, I don’t think that’s the entire Catholic Church. Those people have a right to sue, but I don’t think they’re speaking ex cathedra for the Catholic Church.”
Is it just me, or does the super-duper devout Catholic – Nancy The Word Pelosi- referring to respected Bishops of her faith as “those people” strike anyone else as funny? Anyway, it was also funny how the Hag went all “ex cathedra” on the interviewer – which she appears to understand damn near as much as she understands The Word. Here’s an explanation of ex cathedra from the Second Vatican Council:
“When the Roman Pontiff speaks ex cathedra, that is, when in exercising his office as shepherd and teacher of all Christians he defines with his supreme apostolic authority that a doctrine on faith and morals is to be held by the whole Church, through the divine assistance promised him in the person of St. Peter, he enjoys that infallibility with which the divine Redeemer wished to endow his Church in defining a doctrine on faith and morals.”
Unlike the Hag, I’m no expert on Catholic Church doctrine, but the last time I checked, The Church teaches that sterilization, artificial contraception and abortion are morally wrong – which is the exact basis for the suits filed against the Regime by various archdioceses, dioceses, universities, schools and charitable organizations.
Hey – “those people” have a right to their opinion, but who do they think they are – Nancy Pelosi?
Just gotta love the San Fran Hag – another liberal gift that keeps on giving.
