Backs Off Demand After Being Asked Why Democrats Won’t Release Their Tax Returns
There is nothing quite as much fun as watching a liberal being called out and asked to live up to the same standards (s)he tries to foist on conservatives. In this case it’s particularly enjoyable because, other than O himself, there’s no one I’d rather see backed into a hypocritical corner than the San Fran Loon herself, the “honorable” ex-Madame Speaker, Nancy Pelosi.
A funny thing happened on the way to a showdown with Mitt Romney over his refusal to release eight more years of tax returns; Pelosi was asked why she and other top Congressional Democrats won’t release their tax returns.
As one would expect, Pelosi promptly backpedaled like a hyperactive clown on a unicycle:
“We spent too much time on that. We should be talking about middle-income tax cuts.”
Have we, Nancy? As recently as Wednesday, the San Fran Loon was among the most vociferous of Democrats in pushing Romney to provide additional tax returns. But today, while still going through the motions of maintaining that Romney should release more documents because of “custom” and “tradition,” Pelosi said the issue was trivial compared with economic issues.
Romney has released his 2010 tax returns and has promised to release the 2011 returns when they are available. Additionally, Republicans say Romney will release the same amount of information that John McCain and Barack Obama released in 2008 when they ran for president.
Apparently caught off guard by the insolence of the usually sycophantic liberal media sock puppets, Ms. Nancy took a couple of jabs at them – suggesting that the media should face disclosure requirements as well, asking reporters:
“Some people think the same standard should be held to the ownership of the news media in the country who are writing these stories about all of this. What do you think of that?”
Funny, San Fran’s finest didn’t seem to mind the news media “writing these stories about all of this” when they were only writing about Mitt’s tax returns, did she?
