DEMOCRATS DETERMINED TO PORTRAY PAUL RYAN AS WANTING TO ‘END MEDICARE AS WE KNOW IT’
Ever get the feeling this guy is so used to lying, he doesn’t even get it anymore?
Guess what, America? Democrats are right about one thing – someone is trying to decimate Medicare. Guess what else? It’s not Paul Ryan or Mitt Romney. It’s Barack Obama. Yep, not only does O want to ”end Medicare as we know it” (to borrow a popular Democrat scare-tactic phrase), but he’s also the only candidate in the presidential race who has already laid plans to rob money from Medicare – to the tune of $700 billion.
Obama has been trotting (yes, he trots – especially when he approaches a podium – as if he’s the starting quarterback running out of the tunnel at the Super Bowl) around the country claiming that “Ryan’s plan ‘will end Medicare as we know it’ so that Republicans can ‘give tax breaks to millionaires and billionaires.’” Seriously, loons; aren’t you even getting tired of the same old disingenuous code words and talking points?
There’s just one problem with O’s claim, as recently pointed out by The Daily Standard:
Today, Obama campaign manager Jim Messina sent out an email blasting Mitt Romney’s vice presidential running mate, Wisconsin Congressman and House Budget Committee Chairman, Paul Ryan: ”Ryan’s plan also would end Medicare as we know it – by turning it into a voucher system, shifting thousands of dollars in health care costs to seniors.”
There are many reasons why Messina’s statement is tendentious, misleading, and false. The latest version of the Ryan Medicare reform plan allows future retirees to use a premium support payment to buy private insurance or buy into traditional Medicare – a proposal endorsed by Democratic senator Ron Wyden of Oregon.
Medicare will end “as we know it” under Obama’s plan of rationing and/or bankruptcy. But – the most dishonest part of Messina’s statement is that it leaves the impression that the Ryan plan would affect current seniors. That is not true. Ryan’s Medicare reform not only doesn’t affect current seniors – it doesn’t affect those who are 10 years away from retirement either.
Anyway, back to the Liar-in-Chief. Here’s a 2009 interview he’d like to forget. He wishes everyone else would forget it too:
And here’s CNN’s Wolf Blitzer – not exactly a stalwart of conservatism – destroying the ever-lying Debbie Wasserman Schultz:
Incidentally, the “deficit neutral” part of O’s response is another lie; experts predict that ObamaCare will add $340 billion to the federal deficit over the next 10 years.
I’m not sure if Obama and his sycophants are trying to convince nonbelievers that Ryan and Romney – the twin antichrists – will “end Medicare as we know it” and thus relegate millions of seniors to horrible deaths – or they’re just preaching to the lobotomized choir – hoping like hell to hold onto enough of them – at least through the election. My suspicion is the latter.
At any rate, it’s a full-time job keeping up with their lying lies.
