China, Russia Increase Defense Spending As U.S. Cuts Back

The USS Harry Truman was slated to deploy to the Persian Gulf Friday. Its deployment was canceled. The Navy announced that it cannot afford to have more than one carrier battle group in the Gulf at a time.

Think about that.

Or, this: The Navy will delay the refueling of the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln for an unknown period of time because of the uncertain fiscal environment due to the ongoing budget battle, the service told Congress in a message obtained by USNI News.

(In a related note, O’s Pentagon is extending military benefits to same-sex partners. Good to see that the Regime has its priorities “straight.”)

It’s still unclear whether O and Congressional Republicans will strike a deal to head off the March 1 deadline for avoiding sweeping automatic military cuts, but regardless, Russia is set to surpass U.S. defense spending – when viewed as a percentage of GDP – in just two years.

Moreover, China has been been steadily increasing its military budget for more than a decade, according to Jim Thomas of the Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments:

“You’ve seen double-digit increases in Chinese defense spending for more than 15 years now. That really should not only give pause to the United States, but it really should be a source of concern for the countries in the region as well.”

Obviously, Jim doesn’t have his priorities straight, right, O?

As to be expected, O’s disingenuous partner in crime, outgoing Defense Secretary Leon Panetta – assuming a budget agreement isn’t reached – spins it this way:

“Instead of being a first-rate power in the world, we’d turn into a second-rate power. That would be the result of sequester.”

Translation: “Isn’t it ingenious how Lord Obama was able to invent sequestration so he could blackmail Republicans with threats of draconian slashes to the military – particularly given how much he loathes the Armed Forces of the United States?”

While there is no immediate danger of the U.S. falling behind its adversaries in defense spending, its worth remembering that O – as he continues to do in a number of areas – is determined to steadily chip away at America’s military – every chance he gets.

Case in point: I read today that the Regime has decided all by its smart little self that the number of U.S. nuclear warheads could be cut by a third or more – unilaterally – without harming national security. (Upon hearing the news, China and Russia said: “This guy must really suck at the poker table.”)

Anyway, look for O to go after nukes in tonight’s SOTU. Laughingly, I bet he’ll somehow use North Korea’s latest nuclear test as an excuse to argue for further reductions to the U.S. arsenal. Go figure.

  1. Obama is deliberately gutting the military. He is building up DHS as his new security force. With DHS, he can hand pick leaders that believe in his Socialist agenda. Also, Barry knows that the military will not follow orders to kill Americans. Defunding the Pentagon, militarizing the Department Of Homeland Security and laying the groundwork to disarm American citizens. It is all going on right now, right in front of our eyes.

  2. The real problem here, as I’m sure you know Rat, is that Russia and China are regional powers, while we have worldwide missions, we’ll be fine (if we keep a reasonable supply of nukes, anyway) in the western hemisphere but what about allies, you know Australia, the Philippines, Japan, not so Great anymore Britain and above all, Israel. What happens to them? I know I’m taking this too seriously but dammit, are the Filipinos supposed to trust the Chinese?

    • That, and more, NEO. Read recently that the missile defense shield planned for Poland, etc. – designed to ostensibly defend against Iranian attacks has been flawed from the beginning. O’s already shown that he has no qualms about throwing Poland – or any other country – under the bus to appease Putin. Will he scrap it?

With China’s military “rising,” the threat to Australia, the Philippines and all Pacific Rim countries is real. Hell – O has no problem giving F-16s to his buds in the Muslim Brotherhood, but Taiwan? Different story. Scary stuff.

It’s hard to take it “too seriously” when you have a president who loathes the military, believes America deserves its comeuppance, and wants to free up as much money for his planned welfare state as he possibly can. Nothing could go wrong there, right?

      • Probably, Rat. Defense against missles is a tough problem, lots of math involved, and obviously he can’t 2+2 without getting 5.325. And why would he worry about defending allies, or the US for that matter?

  3. I’ve opined enough about the NWO. So I think Irish-7 is heads up. There is a story on the net by a retired general who said we used 70 million bullets each year in Iraq. Homeland Security has bought over 1.6 billion now and also not assault rifles, but “personal defense weapons”…fully automatic AR-15 types. So duh. Can I count…70 million vs 1.6+ billion?

    So on my lighter note…:

Well yeah O might use…say … the argument against what Dr. Carson proposed…the tithe hurts the guy making only 10 dollars more than the rich guy. i.e. “N. Korea doesn’t have a lot of fissionable material and we have so much, let’s be fair. Let them use it up in underground testing that doesn’t hurt anyone and it is to our strategic advantage. Yuk, yuk, yuk.”
