‘I JUST WANNA MAKE SURE THE RICH ARE PAYING THEIR FAIR SHARE’
From the “Huh?” department, comes this astonishing story: our smoke-and-mirrors President is now saying that he’s “not trying to redistribute wealth.” Seriously – with a straight face. Are you kidding me, O? I realize that you’re a huge fan of Joseph Goebbels, (“If you repeat a lie often enough, it becomes the truth.”), but this one’s a whopper – even by your standards.
Having spent my entire career in consultative sales, I’m more than a little familiar with the concept of “handling objections.” One of the most effective techniques is to anticipate a potential objection – and bring it up before the client does. Barack Obama is giving an objection-handling clinic these days as he anticipates the increase in attacks sure to come his way as the general campaign gets underway. Lest we forget; O may be a stubborn socialist ideologue – but stupid, he is not.
Remember also – liberals take the art of obfuscation to a whole different level – unattainable by mere mortals. Liberals must never reveal their true intentions – they must obfuscate; failure to do so would doom their party to Ronald Reagan’s dustbin of history.
While liberals mastered the Political Lie long ago – saying things they know aren’t true for the sole purpose of patronizing the “less-than-informed” for political gain, the O-man also practices with precision the art of the Big Fat Lie, which I define as saying or doing something over and over – ad nauseum – only to turn around and declare that you never said, or did it in the first place. This Democrat tactic requires cojones grandes, which the ever-cocky O possesses like no one else.
Permit me to illustrate:
Barack Hussein Obama has trotted around the country for five years or more calling for tax increases on the wealthy – even famously telling Joe the Plumber during the 2008 campaign, “When you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody.” In fact, he constantly hammered on the wealth redistribution theme throughout his run for the White House – and has never stopped doing so. Here he is again from the 2008 campaign:
“I’m gonna cut taxes a little bit more for the folks who are most in need. And for the 5% percent of the folks who are doing very well – even though they’ve been working hard and I appreciate that – I just want to make sure they’re paying a little bit more in order to pay for those other tax cuts.”
Let’s see; we’re gonna “cut taxes a bit” for one group while we increase taxes “a little bit more” for another group – “in order to pay for” the first group’s cuts. I’m not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but redistributing tax liability sounds a helluva lot like redistributing wealth to me; how about you?
Fast-forward to 2012. Barack Obama’s whole hopey-changey thing has done little more than polarize America. The One who was going to unite the country has divided it unlike it has been divided since the days of the Civil War. Realizing that he cannot simply rely on the mindless votes of the Kool-Aid-drinking Obamaniacs if he is to win reelection, O gave us a sneak peek at his reelection strategy this week: A smoke-and-mirrors campaign during which he will deny ever having said he wanted to redistribute wealth in the first place – even to the extent of bringing up the”S” word – socialist – himself, and claiming that he isn’t one of those either. Here’s O yesterday:
“So these investments – in things like education and research and health care – they haven’t been made as some grand scheme to redistribute wealth from one group to another,” the president said today at Florida Atlantic University. “This is not some socialist dream.”
Can an Obama apologist please reconcile these two statements for me? Oh, and while you’re at it – please explain how deficit spending – borrowing more money from China and increasing the national debt by trillions of dollars can be classified as “investing.” Having been a financial planner most of my adult life, I have a different definition of “investment.”
So, there you have it America; look for the O-man to avoid the term “wealth redistribution” like the plague – except when he brings it up to remind us that he is not for it, of course. Also, it appears that he also plans to tell us throughout the campaign that he is not, in fact, a socialist. Jsoseph Goebbels would be proud.
Reminds me of the guy sitting at the bar who gets tapped on the shoulder by another guy who simply wants to know if the adjacent bar stool is taken. As soon as he is tapped, the first guy spins around and proclaims, “I didn’t do it – you can’t prove it – I wasn’t even there!”
Feeling a little bit caught – and trying to extricate yourself, O? We’ve all been there; just not with the stakes so high.
O’s combination of arrogance, stubbornness and disingenuousness is unbelievable. An effective president? Not so much.
